What It Means to Serve in the East
The title "Master" within Freemasonry is often misunderstood. While some may associate it with authority to command, its true meaning is far more noble. In Masonic tradition, a Master is a seasoned teacher — one who serves the Lodge with wisdom, humility, and dedication. The Worshipful Master does not preside to be served, but rather to serve.
As the elected leader of the Lodge, the Worshipful Master assumes comprehensive responsibility for its governance and vitality throughout his term. His leadership shapes the character and direction of the Lodge for that year — and his influence endures long after his term concludes.
