Topics Covered in the Broadcast

During the FATV interview, members of Aurora Lodge addressed a wide range of topics about Freemasonry and the lodge’s place in the community:

What Freemasonry Is — A centuries-old fraternity dedicated to personal growth, moral improvement, and service to others, bringing together men of good character from all walks of life.
Aurora Lodge’s History — Chartered in 1801 in Leominster, relocated to Fitchburg in 1845, and continuously active for over 225 years — one of the oldest fraternal organizations in Central Massachusetts.
Community Involvement — The lodge’s ongoing commitment to local charitable support, scholarships, quiet behind-the-scenes assistance to families in need, and participation in civic events.
Addressing Misconceptions — Freemasonry is not a religion, not political, and not a secret society. It is a welcoming, values-driven fraternity open to men of many backgrounds and faiths.
How to Join — How good men of character can begin exploring membership in Aurora Lodge and the broader Masonic fraternity.

What the Interview Highlighted

A Fraternity, Not a Religion

Freemasonry brings together good men from many different religious backgrounds. It strengthens character and encourages moral living — but it is not a religion and makes no claim to be.

Open to Good Men

Any man of good moral character who believes in a Supreme Being and comes to the Craft of his own free will is welcome to explore membership in Aurora Lodge.

Rooted in Community

Aurora Lodge has been serving Fitchburg and surrounding communities for over 225 years through charitable works, mentorship, and quiet acts of relief that rarely make headlines.

225 Years of Continuity

Aurora Lodge is one of the few lodges in Massachusetts that survived the anti-Masonic era of the 1820s–1840s with its charter intact — a testament to the dedication of its early brothers.
